Business Headlines : A privately developed and run city by Mukesh Ambani?

The Mukesh Ambani led Reliance Industries has many enviable achievements executed on an unprecedented scale. However, a new project is expected to dwarf his prior ventures in terms of size and scale and set a benchmark for any industrialist, in India and world over. Reliance Group, in partnership with City Development Authority of Navi Mumbai (CIDCO), Jai Corp (promoted by his close confidant Anand Jain) and Nikhil Gandhi promoted SKIL Infrastructure has received approval to set up and run a “mega city” on the outskirts of Mumbai in Navi Mumbai, and is expected to attract investments of a whopping 75 Billion $ (roughly 5,25,000 crore ₹) over the next 10 years. More bad news awaited Vijay Mallya – the embattled liquor baron who the Indian government has accused of conspiracy to defraud, making false representations and money laundering. A UK High Court, after finding prima facie evidence of the above charges levied, denied Mallya permission to appeal his extradition order to India. Dream 11, the Mumbai based gaming start-up, that runs a fantasy league for cricket, kabaddi and football, among other sports, is the latest entrant and the 1st gaming company to India’s growing club of unicorns, or start-ups valued at over 1 Billion $.
