Share market surges: Sensex crosses 40,000 mark, Nifty rises by 56 points

Earlier, the Sensex opened at 40055.63 points in the morning and reached the highest level of 40121.79 points during the day’s trading.

 

Mumbai| The stock market saw an upward swing on Wednesday. The Sensex saw a jump of more than 200 points amid expectations of tax cuts for foreign fund inflows and equity investors. The Sensex has crossed the 40,000 marks. The Sensex was trading at 40066.49 with a gain of 234.65 points at 12.32 pm. At the same time, the Nifty rose by 56 points to 11843.

Earlier, the Sensex opened at 40055.63 points in the morning and reached the highest level of 40121.79 points during the day’s trading. Meanwhile, the Sensex touched a low of 39920.67 points.

Infosys shares are gaining momentum

Bharti Airtel, L&T, Infosys, ITC, Vedanta, HDFC Bank, Bajaj Auto, Kodak Bank and Sun Pharma were up 3%. On the other hand, Tata Motors, Yash Bank, Indus Bank, Tata Steel, ICICI Bank and TCS saw a decline of up to 2%.

In the previous session, the Sensex was up 581.64 points at 39,831.84 points. At the same time, the Nifty was up 159 points, closing at 11,786.85 points.
