Mallikarjun Kharge, the Congress president, has been appointed as the chairperson of the INDIA opposition bloc. After a prolonged tussle among alliance parties over the role, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was named the convener. However, Kumar declined the position, suggesting a Congress member should assume the responsibility, a sentiment echoed by JD(U) leader Sanjay Jha. The JD(U) had proposed Kumar, facing opposition from the TMC.
