Floor leaders have reportedly been informed that one of the bills on the agenda concerns the welfare of senior citizens. Additionally, among the aforementioned bills, there is one that pertains to the appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner and Election Commissioners. This particular bill was presented in the Rajya Sabha during the previous Monsoon session and faced opposition from the Opposition.
Reportedly, the aim of this bill is to align the service conditions of the Chief Election Commissioner and the two Election Commissioners with those of the Cabinet Secretary, as opposed to the current practice of aligning them with a Supreme Court judge.
The commencement of this special parliamentary session signifies a critical juncture in the legislative process, with the potential to impact various facets of governance and the welfare of citizens across the nation. As the session progresses over the next five days, it is expected to be marked by rigorous debate, deliberation, and decision-making on these crucial bills.
