“Afghanistan Wasn’t Packed In Bag Of Last US Soldier”: Amrullah Saleh’s Sly Dig

“A superpower decided to be mini power that is OK,” Amrullah Saleh, who’s said to be in Panjshir valley, said in a jibe at the US withdrawal.

Former Vice President and self-proclaimed “caretaker” President of Afghanistan, Amrullah Saleh, hit out at the Americans after the last troops left his country, and said the country was not packed in the bag of the last US soldier.

Saleh, who’s said to be in Panjshir valley, said: “Afghanistan wasn’t packed and put in the bag of the last US soldier. The country is here. The rivers are flowing and the mountains are majestic. Talibs are an unpopular proxy force and hated. That is why the whole country wants to escape from them. A superpower decided to be mini power that is OK.”

Meanwhile, an old clip of Saleh’s interview to Australian current affairs programme ’60 Minutes’ is doing the rounds lately. In this interview, Saleh was asked if there was a fear of the US abandoning the country. He said, “If US decides to leave tomorrow, we have no influence on that. All we can do is to tell them our story, remind them of our common objective, our common goal and our common enemy. But if they decide to go, it will be their decision.”

Amrullah Saleh declared himself as the acting President of the country after the Taliban takeover and has joined hands with the Panjshir resistance forces. He said only meaningful negotiations will be accepted.

“Don’t want Afghanistan to become Talibanistan, that will not happen, that is what the Taliban want. We prefer negotiations, but it should be meaningful,” he said.

“We reject of the Emirate of the Taliban, we reject dictatorship, and we reject the grab of power by force,” Saleh had told India Today TV.
