This week, as said by defense minister Rajnath Singh, India will put in another attempt to resolve the issue through talks with the PLA.
Ladakh| As the stand-off between India and China continues on the 26th Day, trucks carrying soldiers, ammunition, and supplies continued to head towards Ladakh in Galwan Valley, with sources informing that many reinforcements are being transferred from Kashmir to Ladakh, News 18 reports.
“The shifting of troops from LoC to LAC happens under dire circumstances, and these are dire circumstance,” a senior official said as reported by News18. He further said that at the command and corps level, these are ‘uncommitted reserves’ that can be moved out without affecting the operations on the ground.
The troops are transported in the region in order to ‘create some pressure on the PLA’ by road and air, those looking closely at the developments said.
Citizens of Durbuk, a village close to where Indian and Chinese troops are in a stand-off say 80 to 90 trucks pass through the area each night. The convoy comprises Army and civil vehicles and carries troops, ammunition, and supplies.
According to News18, Lt Gen SL Narsihman cautions saying, “Some of this movement could be for winter stocking as well. When the snow melts and passes open, the Army stocks its forward posts for the next winter. These are the months when it happens.”
Usually in Summer, when the threat of intrusion from the Chinese army is at its peak, the exercises are conducted in Ladakh by the Indian army. The Chinese do the same in their region. However, the Indian ar,y cancelled their exercises in the view of Covid-19 crisis, with a result that there was no reserve acclimatized troops in the region when China’s PLA intruded the region.
A senior officer according to News18, responded when asked about whether it is an intelligence or operational failure, “China stabbed us in the back. In the middle of a pandemic, this was not expected.”

As far as Chinese side is concerned, Global Times, the official mouthpiece of the Chinese Communist Party, enlists Type 15 tanks, Z-20 helicopters and GJ-2 drones that have been put into Chinese arsenal for high-altitude conflicts against India. It further says, “Chinese troops have bolstered border control measures in response to India’s illegal construction of defence facilities across the border into Chinese territory in the Galwan Valley.”
The threats do not stay limited to these activities. In another article, the Global Times warns India of staying away from the Cold War between the US and China saying, “If in a new cold war, India leans towards the US or becomes a US pawn attacking China, the economic trade ties between the two Asian neighbours will suffer a devastating blow. And it will be too much for the Indian economy to take such a hit at the current stage.”
Whereas, both India and China claim that ‘military and diplomatic’ stage talks are going on in order to resolve the conflict.
