“Don’t Stir Up Trouble”: China Tells India After Violent Face-off In Galwan

India and China have been holding talks to deescalate the situation Galwan valley of Ladakh for the last few weeks. The talks are being held on different military levels to avoid a violent face-off.

New Delhi| According to news agency Reuters, shortly after the reports came out about 1 Indian officer and two soldiers being killed in the violent face-off with Chinese troops in Galwan valley of Ladakh, China asked India “to not take unilateral actions or stir up trouble”.

The said comment was made by the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

Indian Army, however, in its amended statement informed of “casualties on both sides”. According to several media reports, Indian casualties were not shot and that stones and batons were used.

Senior Military officials of both countries are meeting at the location to diffuse the situation.

Earlier today, Beijing accused India of crossing borders and entering its territory. Zhao Lijian, Foreign Ministry spokesman of China, told reporters that Indian troops crossed the border twice on Monday, “provoking and attacking Chinese personnel, resulting in a serious physical confrontation between border forces on the two sides”. He also said that Beijing has lodged “strong protests and solemn representations” to Delhi.

“We again solemnly request that India follows the relevant attitude and restrains its frontline troops. Do not cross the border, do not provoke trouble, do not take any unilateral action that would complicate the border situation,” he said.

Indian army, informing about the death of 3 soldiers, said, “During the de-escalation process underway in the Galwan Valley, a violent face-off took place yesterday night with casualties. The loss of lives on the Indian side includes an officer and two soldiers. Senior military officials of the two sides are currently meeting at the venue to defuse the situation.”

There was a discussion between Lt. General Level military commanders on 6 June between India and China over ending tension between forces in eastern Ladakh. Giving this information, the Ministry of External Affairs had said that China is ready to settle the whole dispute peacefully. The ministry had said that the talks took place in a very peaceful and warm atmosphere. It was agreed that the issue will be resolved soon and the relationship will be carried forward.
