Facebook employees angered after head of global policy makes appearance at Brett Kavanaugh’s hearing

Washington | Various employees at the Social media giant Facebook’s office have expressed their anger after its head of global policy expressed support to Brett Kavanaugh at the ongoing Senate hearing, as per Wall street journal report.

According to the report, hundreds of employees expressed outrage, confusion and frustration after an image showed the Facebook head of global policy Joel Kaplan at Kavanaugh’s hearing before US lawmakers last week. To counter the rising outrage, Facebook Chief Mark Zuckerberg will be taking part in a town hall-style meeting with employees on Friday where viewpoints on this matter will be shared.

The topic was raised during a routine workplace question and answer session with the Facebook chief. The report also quoted Facebook Chief Operating officer Sheryl Sandberg saying in an internal post that “I’ve talked to Joel about why I think it was a mistake for him to attend given his role in the company.” She further added, “We support people’s right to do what they want in their personal time but this was by no means a straight-forward case.”

Brett Kavanaugh who is accused of sexually assaulting three women decades ago is considered as a close friend of Facebook’s head of global policy Joel Kaplan.
