“If Incited, India Can Give Befitting Reply”: PM Modi On Ladakh Face-off

At least 20 Indian soldiers were killed in the violent face-off that erupted between Indian and Chinese troops on Monday night at Galwan valley in eastern Ladakh.

New Delhi| Prime minister Narendra Modi assured the citizens that the sacrifice of our Indian soldiers who lost their lives in a violent face-off with Chinese troops in Galwan valley of Ladakh would not go in vain and India, despite being a peace-loving country, is capable of giving a fitting reply if provoked.

“No one should be in any doubt. India wants peace but when provoked, it is capable of giving a fitting reply, be it any situation,” PM Modi warned China after amid major escalation at LAC after weeks of tension between Indian and China.

The PM said, “The country will be proud to know that our soldiers died fighting the Chinese,” while observing 2 minutes silence in tribute to the 20 soldiers who died for the country before starting a scheduled meeting with Chief Ministers on the coronavirus crisis.

“I would like to assure the nation that the sacrifice of our jawans will not be in vain. For us, the unity and sovereignty of the country is most important,” the PM minister said amid scathing criticism from Congress President Sonia Gandhi and leader Rahul Gandhi over Prime Minister’s silence on the issue.

Earlier today, PM Modi’s office informed that an all-party meeting will be held to discuss the India-China border issue. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for an all-party meeting at 5 PM on 19th June. Presidents of various political parties would take part in this virtual meeting.

At least 20 Indian soldiers were killed in the violent face-off that erupted between Indian and Chinese troops on Monday night at Galwan valley in eastern Ladakh. The casualty numbers could grow, government sources were quoted saying by news agency ANI.

Earlier, the Ministry of External Affairs had confirmed that there have been casualties on both sides during the skirmish that broke out on LAC on Monday night.
