26 people killed and 18 injured in Kabul suicide bombing

A spokesman from the interior ministry told the BBC that suicide bomber reached the shrine of Sakhi on foot and detonated the bombs when he was identified by the police.

A good number of 26 people have been killed and 18 have been left severely injured in a suspected attack by a suicide bomber close to a shrine in Kabul, capital of Afghanistan, said the officials.

As per the initial reports, the bomber planted an attack on a crowd of hundreds of people who had come together to celebrate the occasion of Navroz, the Parsi New Year festival.

A number of people who were there in the crowd were Shia, however, the reports suggest that the number of people killed and injured may only increase.

No immediate assertions of responsibility have been made so far.

More so, a spokesman from the interior ministry told the BBC that suicide bomber reached the shrine of Sakhi on foot and detonated the bombs when he was identified by the police.

The blast happened outside the Ali Abad hospital that is near the Kabul University in the west of the city, said the spokesperson.
