ISIS chief Baghdadi killed: Here is how world leaders reacted to the news

From Iran, Iraq to Turkey and France, here is how the world reacted to the announcement of ISIS chief Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi’s death in US Operations.

New Delhi| The terrorist organization Islamic State (IS) head Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi blew himself up after being surrounded by the US military. US President Donald Trump confirmed Baghdadi’s death during a live broadcast on TV. Trump praised the soldiers involved in the operation, saying that the mission was brilliantly accomplished. Some IS militants were killed along with him.

The US President said Baghdadi tried to flee the tunnel underneath his residence when the army arrived. He also took his three children together. During this time soldiers and military dogs followed him. When he couldn’t find his way into the tunnel, he blasted his suicide jacket. He and his three children were killed in the incident. Trump said Baghdadi’s body was damaged in the blast but was identified by the test.

Trump said Special Forces landed in the cover of military helicopters, planes and drones in Syria’s Idlib province to kill Baghdadi. Subsequently, the troops launched action against the terrorists. Trump recently approved the action against IS.

Earlier, he tweeted Saturday night that something big had happened in Syria. However, then they did not say what time they were saying this. Shortly afterwards, the White House announced that Trump could announce something bigger.

Here is how the world leaders reacted to the news:

Iran:

Iranian government spokesperson Ali Rabiei after the news came out tweeted, “The destruction of Baghdad is the end of the injective-destructive terrorism; injecting the thought of death into the heart of human societies and destroying the image of Islam in public opinion. But just as bin Laden’s death did not trace the root of the assassination, Baghdadi’s death will not be the end of Da’ishism.”

Iraq:

After US President Donald Trump‘s announcement confirming Baghdadi’s death, Iraq government tweeted that the country’s National Intelligence Service will help the US’ anti-terror efforts. It tweeted, “Following extensive work by a dedicated team for over a year, Iraq’s National Intelligence Service was able to accurately pinpoint the hideout of the terrorist Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi in the Syrian province of Idlib. Subsequently, US forces, in coordination with Iraq’s National Intelligence Service, carried out an operation which led to the elimination of the terrorist Al-Baghdadi.”

France:

French President Emmanuel Macron said that while Baghdadi’s death is a setback to Daesh, this is just a step and France along with the coalition partners will work to ensure that terrorist organizations are defeated. He tweeted, “The death of al-Baghdadi is a blow against Daesh, but it’s only a step. The fight continues with our partners in the international coalition so that the terrorist organization is definitely defeated. This is our priority in the Levant.”

Britain:

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson tweeted, “The death of Baghdadi is an important moment in our fight against terror but the battle against the evil of Daesh is not yet over. We will work with our coalition partners to bring an end to the murderous, barbaric activities of Daesh once and for all.”

Israel:

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu congratulated US President Donald Trump on the impressive achievement that led to the assassination of ISIS chief Al-Baghdadi. He tweeted, “This reflects our shared determination, of the United States and all free states, to fight terrorist organizations and terrorist states. This achievement is an important milestone, but the campaign is still ahead of us.”
