New Delhi | Terror organisation Islamic State today claimed responsibility of the Sri Lankan bombing which killed 310 on Easter Sunday.
According to news agency Reuters, Islamic State claimed responsibility for Sri Lanka bombings through its Amaq news agency.
Eight coordinated explosions targeted Easter worshippers and high-end hotels popular with international guests. The blasts targeted St Anthony’s Church in Colombo, St Sebastian’s Church in the western coastal town of Negombo and another church in the eastern town of Batticaloa around 8.45 am (local time) as the Easter Sunday mass were in progress.
Three explosions were reported from the five-star hotels – the Shangri-La, the Cinnamon Grand and the Kingsbury. Foreigners and locals who were injured in hotel blasts were admitted to the Colombo General Hospital.
On Monday around 87 bomb detonators were found at a bus station in Colombo. The bomb detonators were found at the Central Colombo bus station in Pettah area. The police initially found 12 bomb detonators scattered on the ground. A further search revealed 75 more, a police statement said.
