No Institutional Quarantine Required For Indians, UK Moves Travellers From ‘Red’ To ‘Amber’ List

For international travel, returning from amber listed countries under the UK traffic light system means a 10-day quarantine at home.

Fully vaccinated Indian travellers to the United Kingdom will no longer be required to be in institutional /Hotel Quarantine for 10 days. The UK has moved India from “red” to “amber” list. The change in the lists will have a direct impact on the thousands of Indian families who want to travel to the UK.

Indian citizens can now quarantine at the place of their choice for 10 days after arrival in the UK. They will retain the option of “testing for release” five days after their quarantine period.

For international travel, returning from amber listed countries under the UK’s traffic light system means a 10-day quarantine at home. The change, announced by the British Department of Transportation, will take effect on Sunday (August 8) from 4 a.m. local time.

The UK Secretary of Transportation tweeted, “UAE, Qatar, India and Bahrain will be moved from red list to amber list. All changes will take effect on August 8 from 4 am.”

This decision is a matter of relief for Indians living in the UK, who were demanding relaxation of travel rules between India and the UK.
