Pakistan fires UN diplomat Maleeha Lodhi days after Imran Khan’s UN speech

Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United Nations Maleeha Lodhi was removed and Munir Akram was appointed in her place.

 

New York| Pakistan on Monday removed its Ambassador to the United Nations Maleeha Lodhi. Munir Akram has been appointed in her place. The Ministry of External Affairs gave this information. However, no reason has been given for this change. This change was made after Prime Minister Imran Khan returned from America. Akram served as a permanent representative of Pakistan to the United Nations from 2002 to 2008.

I worked as a representative at the UN for four years. It was very special to represent the country in the most important multilateral stage in the world. ”

Khalil Ahmed will be Pakistan’s new representative in Geneva

The Foreign Ministry said in its statement that Khalil Ahmed Hashmi would be the permanent representative of Pakistan in Geneva. Khalil Ahmed Hashmi currently serves as the director of the Ministry of External Affairs at the United Nations. With this, the Ministry of External Affairs has appointed new representatives in a total of ten countries including Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Kuwait.

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran had raised the Kashmir issue in his speech during the General Assembly meeting in New York last week. In his speech that lasted for about 50 minutes, Imran kept speaking on Kashmir issue. In his speech, Imran warned that if two nuclear weapon neighbours come face to face, it will have far-reaching consequences.

At the same time, Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave the message of peace in his speech. He had said that India is a country which has not given war to the world, but the Buddha’s message of peace.
