PM Modi Receives Prestigious “Legion of Merit” Award For Strengthening Strategic Partnership Between India and US

US President Trump awarded PM Modi the “Legion of Merit” award under his leadership for strengthening the strategic partnership between the US and India.

 

Washington DC| US President Donald Trump honoured Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the prestigious Legion of Merit award. The award was given to PM Modi for strengthening the strategic partnership between India and the United States under his leadership and advancing India as a global force. India’s Ambassador to the US Taranjit Singh Sandhu accepted the award on behalf of the Prime Minister. He was presented the award at the White House by US National Security Advisor Robert O’Brien. O’Brien tweeted that President Trump awarded Prime Minister Narendra Modi the “Legion of Merit” award under his leadership for strengthening the strategic partnership between the US and India.

This is the highest honour ‘Chief Commander of the Legion of Merit’ award, which is given only to the government or the head of the nation. He was given this award for his outstanding “leadership and vision, which has steadily pushed India towards emerging as a global power and strengthened the strategic partnership between the US and India to meet global challenges”.

O’Brien said in another tweet that Trump also honoured Prime Minister Scott Morrison of Australia and former Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe with the Legion of Merit.

Prior to America, many other countries have also honoured Prime Minister Modi with his highest honor. These include ‘Order of Abdulaziz Al Saud’, ‘State Order of Ghazi Amanullah Khan’ (2016), ‘Grand Collar of State of Palestine Award (2018),’ Order of Zayed Award by UAE, King Abdulaziz Sash Award, Saudi Arabia in April 2016, Russia’s’ Order of St. Andrew ‘(2019), etc.
