UK PM Boris Johnson Says He Owes His Life to Medics

Boris Johnson was taken to the St Thomas’s Hospital in central London on April 5, after he persistently showed the symptoms of the disease caused by the novel coronavirus

London| United Kingdom’s Prime Minister Boris Johnson, speaking for the first time after coming out of the intensive care unit, said he owes medics and hospital staff his life. His government is under immense pressure as the death toll due to coronavirus continues to spike up.

Britain has reported two consecutive days on which the death toll was above 900. Friday’s death toll, 980, was highest than that of Italy’s single-day death toll. Although Italy remains to be the hardest-hit country in the world so far.

The UK PM was taken to the St Thomas’s Hospital in central London on April 5, after he persistently showed the symptoms of the disease caused by the novel coronavirus. He was moved into the intensive care unit on 6th April and he stayed in there till 9th April.

“I can’t thank them enough. I owe them my life,” Johnson told the staff of the country’s National Health Service at the hospital. He was talking for the first time after being moved out of the intensive care unit on 9th April.

His downing street office informed that Johnson “continues to make very good progress”.

In the testing situation, Queen Elizabeth issued her 2nd message for the country, saying “coronavirus will not overcome us”.
