“CBI Not Under Government Control”: Centre Tells Supreme Court

On Thursday, the Centre informed the Supreme Court that the CBI operates independently of Union control, countering a lawsuit by the West Bengal government. The state alleges CBI’s unauthorized investigations despite its withdrawal of consent. Article 131 of the Constitution forms the basis of West Bengal’s suit against the Centre.
