New Delhi | A BJP delegation on Tuesday will be meeting the Election Commission of India to approach against the election campaigning ban on Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
The delegation comprising of Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and JP Nadda will meet the Election Commission officials and appeal against the 72-hour ban on Adityanath.
The Election Commission yesterday acting on Supreme Courts order over alleged hate speeches made by BSP supremo Mayawati and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath banned both the leaders from election campaigning for 72 hours & 48 hours respectively, starting from 6 am today.
In an issued statement the Election Commission banned Mayawati and Yogi Adityanath for violating Model Code of Conduct by making objectionable statements in their speeches.
Earlier today the Supreme Court on refused to consider BSP supremo Mayawati’s plea challenging the EC’s 48-hr campaign ban on her and expressed satisfaction over the poll body’s action against leaders making hate speeches. A bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi asked Mayawati’s counsel to file a separate appeal against the poll panel’s order.
