SC asks Election Commission to examine Tej Bahadur Yadav’s plea

Tej Bahadur Yadav, who was dismissed from BSF after a video of his complaining about the food quality for soldiers went viral, had filed nomination from Varanasi to contest against PM modi on Samajwadi party ticket.

 

New Delhi| The Supreme Court today ordered the election commission to examine the complaint filed by Tej Bahadur Yadav against cancellation of his nomination. Yadav, who was dismissed from BSF after a video of his complaining about the food quality for soldiers went viral, had filed nomination from Varanasi to contest against PM modi on Samajwadi party ticket.

However, his nomination was cancelled after allegations of hiding information. However, Tej Bahadur Yadav reached appealed in the SC against this.

Advocate Prashant Bhushan on behalf of Yadav said that the order to cancel his nomination should be revised and he should be given permission to contest elections. After hearing Yadav’s counsel, the Supreme Court asked the Election Commission to look into the complaint in detail.

The Apex court gave a day to the Election Commission to submit an answer. The hearing will be held again tomorrow following which the clouds of uncertainty over Tej Bahadur’s candidature would be cleared.
