Ashok Gehlot Questions PM Modi’s Silence Over Communal Violence

Jaipur: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s silence over the communal violence across the nation. “Why has PM Modi not condemned the riots? The home minister should also show courage and order a thorough investigation. That is the only way the truth will come out, regarding who is behind the conspiracy to stoke unrest and which political party is benefiting from it,” the Congress leader stated.

When he was questioned about the allegations of rape against Rajasthan minister Mahesh Joshi’s son, CM said that they do not have any problem against the law taking its course but certain people are blatantly violating the law to stoke violence and communal tensions.

Speaking of riots, he said, “The atmosphere in the country is completely vitiated. There have been riots in seven states, clashes erupted during Ram Navami celebrations and before that, there was tension in Karauli. There is one thing in common in all these incidents, the same modus operandi is being followed,” said Gehlot. He is asking Home Minister Amit Shah to order a probe into the riots.

As the three-day Chintan Shivir, or brainstorming session, to restructure the Congress concluded in Udaipur, he pushed for unity within the party’s ranks.

He also asserted that Congress is the main opposition in the country. He also lashed out at BJP for misusing central agencies against political leaders who raise their voices against it.

Nevertheless, an undeterred Congress will always stand by the people, he said.
