Muzaffarnagar: Farmer Leader Rakesh Tikait has received death threat from an unknown caller. The caller also abused him, said police. Bhartiya Kisan Union has demanded ‘Y’ category security for him.
Senior superintendent of police, Muzaffarnagar, Abhishek Yadav said that a probe has been launched by the police. The investigation has been started on the basis of complaint filed by the Bharatiya Kisan Union leader’s driver Perjval Tyagi at the Civil Lines police station.
Police team led by senior sub-inspector Rakesh Sharma visited Tikait’s residence and spoke to him, the police said.
Bhartiya Kisan Union has demanded ‘Y’ category security to Rakesh Tikait after he received death threats. It has been said on behalf of the Bharatiya Kisan Union that Rakesh Tikait has received death threats in the past as well. Government should give ‘Y’ category security to Rakesh Tikait.
In the case of the threat received by Rakesh Tikait, a few months back, a chief constable who was posted under his security had also registered a case.
