Singer Sidhu Moosewala To Be Cremated Today, Big Crowd, Security Deployed

Chandigarh: This morning, the family of Punjabi artist Sidhu Moose Wala brought his body home from the Mansa Civil Hospital for final rituals. He was shot and killed on Sunday evening, a day after the state administration reduced his security cover.

According to sources, almost two dozen bullets were pumped into the popular singer during a post-mortem investigation conducted by a team of five doctors at the Mansa Civil hospital.

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has served the state government with a notice demanding a thorough report on the number of people whose security has been lowered or withdrawn, as well as the reasons behind the decision. The musician was one of 424 people whose protection was revoked or limited on Saturday by the Punjab Police.

The reduction in security cover has generated a political firestorm, with opposition parties accusing the Bhagwant Mann government of putting VIPs in danger.

Faced with criticism, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh announced the formation of a judicial committee to investigate the death of Moose Wala, which will be led by a sitting high court judge.

Lawrence Bishnoi, a criminal imprisoned in Tihar jail, has been questioned by the Delhi Police. Goldy Brar, a Canadian criminal who has claimed responsibility for the murder of Moose Wala, is a close ally of Bishnoi.
