Jammu: BJP State Spokesperson Prof. Virender Gupta while commenting on the state of Former Chief Minister & President of National Conference, Dr Farooq Abdullah while addressing a public meeting at Balakot in Mendhar where the latter had reiterated the demand for great autonomy to the state of Jammu and Kashmir, said that the clock cannot be reversed back. He said the demand is only a political gimmick of the National Conference and even in the valley people do not take the demand seriously, in the prevailing situation. He further added that the people of Jammu region and that of Ladakh region are against the demand, in fact, they want freedom from Kashmiri domination and revoking of Article-370, that provided special status to Jammu and Kashmir and which the worst kind of discrimination that has been enforced on the people of these regions. He said that great autonomy as ensured under Article 370 to state has sown the seeds of disintegration of the state and emphasis on the demand shall lead to disintegration of the state and there is nothing communal in it.

He also said it was Dogra Maharaja, Hari Singh who acceded to Indian Union by signing the instrument of accession on 26th October, 1947.
He also criticised his statement of conversion of Line of Control into line of peace (International Border) and said that it amounts to undermining the integrity of the state and that of Indian Nation. It is also against the will of the people of India which was expressed in the unanimous resolution of Parliament in 1994 of taking back Pakistan occupied part of Jammu and Kashmir.
He also criticized his statement of blaming the present Indian government for following divisive politics and creating wedge between in the society on the basis of region and religion. He said that present government at the Centre does not believe in polarization of the society, infact all its policies and programme are inclusive and cover the development of all the sections of the society carried under the motto of “Sab ka Saath Sab ka Vikaas” (Cooperation of all and development of all).
