Creating a huge buzz in the political sphere as it went completely viral on the social media; Moily stated it to be a “mistake committed by someone else”.
M Veerappa Moily seems to have landed in yet another trouble by sparking off a fresh controversy over his tweet where he stated that money plays a role in his party deciding who gets the ticket for the next elections in Karnataka, albeit he has completely refuted posting it saying, “I have not done it”.
As matter of fact, a tweet from a twitter handle which is not verified reads, “INC need (sic) to solve money in politics. We can’t afford to have contractors and their nexus with the state PWD minister determine how candidates are selected for the upcoming assembly elections.”

At last someone’s conscience in @INCKarnataka prodded him to speak up! @moilyv ji is right. We have been saying that @siddaramaiah is #10PercentCM. With contractors filling PWD min's deep pockets, state's coffers & roads are in tatters. Congress veteran’s view validates our point https://t.co/OpaWh1ZwPG

Moily who manages the manifesto committee for the assembly elections, said, “That Twitter (handle) is not in my control. It’s not (an) appropriate (tweet). I’m withdrawing (it)”.
Surfacing at a time when the plenary was supposed to start at New Delhi, the tweet also had Rahul Gandhi’s office, Moily’s son Harsha Moily, Karnataka Pradesh Congress and Congress Headquarters in it. It was minutes later that the same tweet was posted on Harsha’s twitter handle as well, tagging Siddaramaiah too. However, later both the tweets were deleted.
The tweet row seems to have surfaced in reports that Moily, who was the former chief minister was dissatisfied over disappointing remarks reportedly made by Mahadevappa during a meeting of a screening panel about issuing party tickets to Harsha to fight the assembly elections from Karnataka. When asked if his twitter handle was hacked, he answered, “I don’t say that but even then it’s not proper. It’s unfortunate. It shouldn’t have come. I haven’t done it. Somebody else has done it. I don’t want to go public on party matters.”
More so, on asking if he wants to take any action, Moily said he does not want to comment any further on the matter at hand.
On the other hand, Mahadevappa said that he did not know about the incident saying, “ I don’t know social media, hence I don’t know about tweets. Someone told me about such a tweet, after that he (Moily) has said that he has not tweeted, this is what I know … rest you have to ask him”.
