Former Maharashtra Minister’s Son Brought Back Pune From Bangkok After Police Receive Kidnapping Call

In the late evening on Monday, former Maharashtra Minister Tanaji Sawant’s son was brought back to Pune from Bangkok with two of his friends after police filed a kidnapping case.

According to joint Commission Ranjan Kumar Sharma, Sawant’s son Rishiraj Sawant, who is 32 years old, had booked a chartered plane for Bangkok with his two friends, but the mysterious call spoiled their travel plans.

“Our police control room received a call around 4 pm in which an anonymous caller informed us that some unidentified people took away Rishiraj. During the probe, it was revealed that Rishiraj and his two friends had booked a chartered plane for Bangkok. We tracked the flight and contacted the airline for the aircraft’s return. The flight has returned to Pune with three passengers, including Rishiraj,” informed Joint Commission Sharma.

The Shiv Sena leader said his son had left for the airport without informing him or anyone in the family.

The police officer said, “We will enquire and find out the purpose of his trip to Bangkok and why he did not inform the family about his travel plans.”

The former minister said he called police after discovering his son had left in someone else’s car for the airport.
