Frank-Walter Steinmeier, the German President, today arrived in India on his four-day visit to the country.
Raveesh Kumar, the spokesperson of Ministry of External Affairs informed on Twitter that the German President and his wife Elke Budenbender was received by SS Ahluwalia Minister of State Drinking Water and Sanitation.
Kumar tweeted, “Herzlich Willkommen! Warm welcome to President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Mrs Elke Büdenbender to India. Minister of State, Drinking Water and Sanitation, S.S. Ahluwalia received the honoured guests”.

Steinmeier will be visiting the cities of Chennai and Varanasi and is accompanied by Indologists, a delegation of media and Chief Executive Officers.
His visit is deemed to be quite important after Angela Merkel, the German Chancellor was re-elected in the German Parliament for a record fourth term yesterday.
It was last year in May that PM Modi had visited Germany.
