India and China agree to resume direct flight services after five years. In 2020, flights from China were suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The announcement came after when Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri met in Beijing.
On Monday, the Ministry of External Affairs stated, “The two sides agreed to take appropriate measures to promote further and facilitate people-to-people exchanges, including media and think-tank interactions. They agreed in principle to resume direct air services between the two countries; the relevant technical authorities on the two sides will meet and negotiate an updated framework for this purpose early.”
