The Indian delegation met important and high officials in the course of their three-day visit to Washington
The muti-party parliamentary delegation from India led by Shashi Tharoor has completed its visit to the United States. The visit was intended to give a briefing to key interrogators on Operation Sindoor. This was an offensive that India launched and key terrorist bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir were targeted. This operation was in opposition and retaliation to 22nd April’s Pahalgam terror attack. This attack had claimed 26 lives.
The Indian delegation met important and high officials in the course of their three-day visit to Washington. This included JD Vance, US’s Vice President and Deputy Secretary of State (Deputy SoS) Christopher Landau.
All these meetings have been a part of a global outreach campaign to advocate India’s stand against terrorism. This outreach also aims to get other countries’ support in opposition to terrorism.
Earlier, India also visited Guyana, Panama, Colombia and Brazil before visiting USA. This is the final place that the Shashi Tharoor-led delegation visited as a part of India’s global outreach.
“On behalf of all the members, I express my gratitude to the motherland and the lovers of India in the country and abroad who listened with open ears and accepted with open heart that we are lovers of non-violence but only until someone… Jai Hind.”
While in Washington, the Indian delegation met leaders of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the India Caucus. They also spoke with policy experts, media professionals, think tanks and Indian-American community members.
Shashi Tharoor met Vice-President Vance too.
About the meeting with Vance, while speaking before PTI, he said, “Vance expressed complete understanding, first of all, outrage of what happened in Pahalgam and support and respect for India’s restrained response in Operation Sindoor.”
State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce said, “The Deputy Secretary of State reaffirmed the United States’ strong support of India in the fight against terrorism and the strategic partnership between the two countries.”
The Deputy SoS Landau said, “We discussed the US-India strategic relationship, including expanding trade and commercial ties to foster growth and prosperity for both countries.”
