Russian Woman Slept With Mummified Husband’s Body For 4 years

For four years, a Russian woman performed occult rites inspired by an ancient Egyptian deity while sleeping next to her husband’s mummified body. Named Svetlana, 50, Ā kept her husband’s body in their bed and threatened to send her kids to an orphanage if they told anyone.

Vladimir, 49, reportedly passed away in their spacious home four years ago under suspicious circumstances. After a fight in December 2020, the wife allegedly yelled at the man and wished for his death. The woman believed her husband was acting when he reportedly collapsed and passed away. The oldest daughter inquired about her father a few hours later, sensing something wasn’t quite right.

“The woman wrapped the body of her husband in a blanket and took him to her room. The mother told the children who saw the family drama to keep their mouths shut, threatening to send them to an orphanage,” said a report by rg.ru.

A social worker visiting the family’s minor children, including 11-year-old twin boys and two females aged 17 and 8, recently discovered the mummified body. They had been to see the family multiple times since 2021, yet they had never noticed the mummy in bed before.

During the search, the police discovered several strange artefacts, such as tarot cards, amulets, pictures of animal skulls, and an Egyptian cross at the feet of the mummified spouse.

She said that this was what Vladimir would have wanted and allegedly carried out several rituals to help preserve her husband’s body. Authorities reportedly discovered a chaotic shrine to Anubis, the jackal-headed god of Egyptian funerary rites, in one of the bedrooms.

In the meantime, she informed neighbours and other individuals that her husband was undergoing alternative medical therapy in Tibet. Vladimir reportedly suffered from foot health issues because he wouldn’t wear shoes in freezing temperatures.

Following the disturbing discovery, authorities are subjecting the woman, believed to have a predisposition to schizophrenia, to a mental health evaluation. Additionally, they brought her four children to the hospital for assessment.

Any charges over the case ”will be made based on the results of the forensic medical examination of the body and necessary verification activities, during which all the circumstances, as well as the causes and conditions of the incident, will be established,” said the Russian Investigative Committee.
