The former Karnataka chief minister added, “But, keeping Congress out of the Federal front may not be desirable. It will also not work, it will not be effective. This is intended only at dividing the opposition.”
Senior Congress party leader Veerappa Moily stated today that there cannot be a federal front without Congress being a part of it even as he signified that the leadership of this kind of an alliance stands to be a subject of negotiation.
Moily, the former Union Minister alleged that a non-Congress federal front, a non-BJP promoted by K Chandrasekhar Rao, the TRS supremo and Chief Minister of Telangana is targeted at dividing the anti-BJP parties.
He further said albeit Rao’s this step is “good and welcome” yet all the parties are needed to be taken into confidence.
Rao, on the other hand, had recently stated that a non-BJP and non-Congress front should be created in the nation and had demanded “qualitative change” in politics while declaring that he was prepared to take on the responsibility of leading a political front.
Moily told the reporters, “There cannot be a federal front without the Congress. Bracketing the Congress along with the BJP will not help the purpose, nor help the national objective (to dethrone the BJP)”.
On being asked in case a federal front has to be spearheaded by Congress, he stated, “Leading and other things is a matter of negotiation.. that is a different matter.”
The former Karnataka chief minister added, “But, keeping Congress out of the Federal front may not be desirable. It will also not work, it will not be effective. This is intended only at dividing the opposition.”
Bringing up the Congress plenary held recently, he said that Rahul Gandhi, the party president has clearly said it that he will not boycott the elders.
He said, “But, at the same time, youth will get more prominence. That’s a welcome move. Because change means, you cannot maintain the status-quo and build the party. Congress needs a thorough change with youth force”.
