Mayawati lashes out at BJP, says ties between BSP and SP are in national interest

She said, “The workers of the SP and BSP will not get entrapped to the designs of the BJP in the national interest and we together with the other opposition parties, will have to stop the BJP from coming to power in the Centre this time”

Storming at the ruling party of the BJP and alleging it of seeking to tear apart the newly-found ties between the Samajwadi Party and hers, Mayawati remarked that the bond between the two parties has been formed in the interest of the nation and not to meet any ulterior motives.

“The close ties of the BSP with the SP (Samajwadi Party) are not for any ulterior motives but in the interest of the nation”, she stated, stressing that the opposition parties will have to work cohesively to seize the BJP from rising to power in the centre.

She stated that the non-BJP parties should get in unison to cater to the predicaments that are being suffered by the masses, including the youth and the poor due to the “wrong policies of the BJP-led central and state governments.”

She also added that the friendship of the BSP and SP is being received well all across the country.

She said, “The workers of the SP and BSP will not get entrapped to the designs of the BJP in the national interest and we together with the other opposition parties, will have to stop the BJP from coming to power in the Centre this time”.

She further remarked, “Now that the BJP is finding this alliance to be materializing, their leaders are issuing statements against the ties between the BSP-SP that are completely unsubstantiated”, after getting an understanding that the two archenemies have surfaced for incisive criticism from the BJP, which lost the important Lok Sabha bypolls in Phulpur and Gorakhpur to the Samajwadi Party.

The BSP supremo pointing at Modi’s remarks on Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, the Chairman of the constitution drafting committee and the Dalit icon in his programme of ‘Mann ki Baat’ and called it to be an “eyewash”.

She said, “In the past four years of supremacy, they have been constantly basking in the glory of theatrics on issues that revolve around backwards and Dalits and any additional drama will not give them any political mileage.”

She added, “The country that rests on the foundation of the principle of equality that was brought by Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar can never transform into reality under the government led by the RSS and the BJP since they have narrow, casteist and communal mindsets which is quite contrary to the spirit of the Constitution”.

She said, “Due to such a mentality, people had chosen to keep that party out of power for a long time and now under the BJP, the backwards and the Dalits are lagging behind.” She further remarked that the benefits of the recommendations of the Mandal Commission have been made inefficacious by the government just the way reservation has for the Dalits.
