Of India’s 4,421 cases, Kerala has reported 327 patients so far & two deaths linked to COVID-19. 58 people in the state have already recovered.
Thiruvananthapuram: Two asymptomatic persons who finished their 14-day quarantine period tested positive for coronavirus in Pathanamthitta district of Kerala.
One of them is a 60-year-old man who had travelled from Dubai to Pathanamthitta; another is a 19-year-old student who had travelled from Delhi.
“These two were tested as they are under the high-risk category. One boarded the train from Nizamuddin and the other person came back via Dubai. We have asked all the high-risk category persons to be under quarantine for 28 days, so they were also under quarantine,” said District Medical Officer AN Sheeja. “But their contacts will be traced and this case needs to be studied as it was after the 14-day period.”
“This is a warning sign. Thousands of innocent, unknown people might also have come in contact with these asymptomatic carriers. The fact that they passed their 14-day quarantine period, without showing any symptoms, is further alarming. This means, we still need to tread a cautious path,” District Collector PB Nooh told NDTV.

The 60-year-old has been under quarantine from March 19 to April 6. He was tested despite being asymptomatic because he returned from the high-risk area. He had flown in from Sharjah to Thiruvananthapuram on March 19 and travelled by road to his hometown.
Another is a 19-year-old student who had returned from Delhi. On March 15, the student boarded a train from Delhi to Ernakulam, reaching home two days later. She had remained asymptomatic all this while.
District Collector PB Nooh said this shows the public needs to be more cautious.
The total number of positive cases across the world has reached over 1.3 million at 1,346, 299.
