The total number of positive coronavirus cases in India has risen to 491 including 10 deaths and 36 cured cases. Globally, 16,572 people have died.
Mumbai| A 65-year-old coronavirus patient has died in Mumbai, taking the death toll due to COVID-19 to three in the metropolis and 10 across India.
The man recently returned from the United Arab Emirates to Ahmedabad. He later complained of fever, cough and difficulty in breathing, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said in a statement. He also had pre-existing ailments, including high blood pressure and severe diabetes, it said.
Maharashtra reported its third casualty on Tuesday, while West Bengal, Himachal Pradesh, Bihar, Karnataka, Delhi, Gujarat and Punjab had reported one death each earlier.
Over 10 fresh cases of novel coronavirus cases have been reported from across the country on Tuesday morning, taking Indiaâs tally to 511. New cases have been reported from Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat and Manipur. India’s tally also includes the death toll which rose to 10 on Monday after three more coronavirus deaths.
Maharashtra, which has been the worst hit, reported five new cases on Monday, taking the total of positive cases to past 100 — the highest number of confirmed coronavirus cases in India so far. At 95, Kerala is close behind.

Karnataka has 37 cases of coronavirus patients after four more persons tested positive for the deadly virus on Tuesday. The number of cases in Telangana has risen to 33, including 10 foreigners.
Uttar Pradesh has 33 positive cases, including a foreign national. Gujarat has reported 30 cases and Delhi has 29 patients, while Rajasthan has 32 positive cases, including two foreign nationals.
Globally, 16,572 people have died due to the pandemic and a total of 381,293 positive cases have been confirmed. While Italy has reported the highest number of deaths at 6,077 and the number of positive cases at 63,927, China has reported 3,153 deaths and 81,514 cases so far. Also, Spain has reported 2,311 deaths, Iran 1,812, France 860 and UK 335.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) Monday warned that the coronavirus pandemic is clearly âacceleratingâ, but said it was still possible to âchange the trajectoryâ of the outbreak.
