Kolkata | Around 9 people have been injured while a 7-year-old child has died in an explosion in North Kolkata’s Nager bazar area.
According to the eyewitnesses, “The explosion took place outside a fruit shop on the ground floor of the building in the congested area under in Dum Dum around 9 am.” Senior police officer informing media about the blast said, “It was a high-intensity blast. 4 people seriously injured, 6 injured. Found some iron nails but can’t ascertain cause of blast yet as there is no smell of gunpowder.”

Responding to the blast South Dum Dum Municipality Chairman Panchu Roy said, “They had planned to kill me and other TMC workers, as it would create panic and help them gain a foothold in the area.” While Purnendu Basu, West Bengal Minister blamed that Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) responsible for the blast. He said,” I think this type of blast is similar to the ones carried out by RSS elsewhere.”
