Ahead Of UP Polls, Lalu Yadav Meets Mulayam Singh In Delhi

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav met former Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav in presence of Akhilesh Yadav.

Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav met former Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav in presence of the latter’s son and the current and party chief, Akhilesh Yadav. The meeting took place in New Delhi on Monday, sources said.

Both Akhilesh Yadav and Lalu Yadav shared photographs of the meeting from their Twitter handles.

Lalu Yadav, in a tweet in Hindi, said: “Met the country’s senior most socialist friend Shri Mulayam Singhji and enquired about his wellbeing. We have common concerns and fight about farmers, inequality, the poor and the unemployed.”

Although there has not been much information about the issues discussed between the three leaders, the timing of the meeting becomes significant as the most awaited Uttar Pradesh assembly elections are approaching next year.

Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav told NDTV: “Mulayam Singh-ji had been unwell. Lalu Yadav visited to enquire about his health. It is natural that when two senior politicians of the country meet, politics will be discussed.”
