Aligarh minor’s murder: Accused charged under National Security Act

Aligarh | Investigating the murder of a two-year-old minor, the Aligarh police has said that the probe will be under the National Security Act and the case is transferred to the fast track court.

A two-year-old girl was allegedly strangulated and murder in Tappal area of Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh and the body was found in the garbage dump on June 2.

Speaking on the investigation, Aligarh Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Akash Kulhary said, “We are proceeding with it as an NSA case, we will try to get it to a fast track court. There is no mention of rape or acid in the postmortem report. Two accused have been arrested, five police officials have been suspended.”

According to the police the girl was abducted and killed in revenge crime by the accused over a financial dispute with the girl’s father on June 5. The officials said, “The girl’s father told us that he had a money dispute with the accused who had threatened the former with dire consequences. We questioned him and it was revealed that the body was hidden at his associate’s house. The body was later found at the garbage dump.”

Denying the angle of rape in the case, police said that a postmortem was conducted by a three-doctor team which ruled out the possibility of rape rather she was strangulated.

Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi meanwhile has questioned the administration over the murder. Gandhi on Twitter wrote,” The brutal murder in Aligarh is yet another inhuman, unspeakable crime against an innocent child. I cannot even begin to imagine the pain her parents must feel. What has become of us?”
