Amidst Coronavirus Pandemic, Unseasonal Rains Lash Many Parts Of India

Parts of New Delhi & NCR experienced strong winds & irregular rains on Friday. The dust storm occurred at around 7 pm in the evening.

New Delhi| Heavy rains with hail and strong winds hit many parts of Delhi and bordering Noida yesterday evening bringing down the temperature.

On some of the empty roads of the national capital, it seemed like it snowed. On Friday as well, light rain brought down the temperature in Delhi.

Since previous few days, dust storms have been recorded from the northern and north-western parts of the nation, including the National Capital of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and parts of Rajasthan.

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has informed that the quality of air in Delhi could worsen in the coming days due to occurrence of dust storms, normal throughout this season. Some parts of the National Capital Region even observed hails.

The national capital recorded a maximum of 37.3 degrees Celsius, typical for this time of the year, and a minimum of 22.6 degrees Celsius. The weather station at Palam reported a maximum of 38.4 degrees Celsius, the highest in the city.

Social media went into overdrive, with many sharing videos and images on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Videos on Twitter show pounding rain and hailstones hitting the streets.
