Bajrang Dal Activists Destroy Water Cooler Foundation Stone In Temple With Muslim Politician’s Name On It

According to reports, Salman- who is the Samajwadi Party’s youth wing state treasurer, had donated the water cooler to Khereshwar Mahadev temple in Aliagrh’s Lodha area two days ago.

A group of Bajrang Dal activists barged into an Aligarh temple on Thursday and destroyed the foundation stone of a water cooler bearing the name of a Muslim politician named Salman Shahid, according to news reports. One person has been arrested in this regard.

According to the report, Salman- who is the Samajwadi Party’s youth wing state treasurer, had donated the water cooler to Khereshwar Mahadev temple in Aliagrh’s Lodha area two days ago.

Deepak Rajput, a Bajrang Dal member was arrested and subsequently released on bail after the right-wing outfit’s protests outside the Lodha police station.

Meanwhile, BJP MP Satish Gautam backed the acts of Bajrang Dal and said that a Muslim’s name in the temple has “hurt the sentiments of the Hindu community”

On Wednesday, the temple committee filed a police complaint alleging that some “anti-social elements” entered into the temple and destroyed the stone. The committee head, Satyapal Singh, has demanded a case and probe into the matter.

The SP leader had donated the water cooler to the temple on June 28 after discussing it with the temple authorities.

“We did not find any problem in installing the foundation stone inside the temple with the politician’s name. Unfortunately, after this incident, we apologized to him and returned the water cooler to maintain peace in the town” Singh told TOI.
