Bird Flu Scare Reaches Delhi, Mumbai; 9000 Birds To Be Culled In Parbhani

Bird flu has also been confirmed in several districts of Maharashtra. Many crows were found dead in Mumbai’s Chembur area on Sunday.

 

New Delhi| On Sunday, 14 crows were found dead in Red Fort area and 4 ducks were found dead in Sanjay Lake in Delhi. Eight to 10 crows have also been found dead in Central Park of Mayur Vihar Phase-3. The reports of birds dropping dead in large numbers come amidst the bird flu scare in at least 10 states of India.

8 samples confirmed in testing

According to the Animal Husbandry Department of Delhi, after testing 8 samples of dead crows and ducks, it has been confirmed that bird flu has also knocked in Delhi. All samples have been found to be positive.

Panic in the capital

During the last two days, reports of birds dying in different places have created panic in the capital. According to the Animal Husbandry Department, the first report was to come on Monday. Now after the confirmation of bird flu, advisory can be issued to the people, but there is no need to panic.

Animal Husbandry Department of Delhi Government is in alert mode due to bird flu in Delhi and is constantly maintaining surveillance. On Sunday, the department received 60 to 70 complaints of bird deaths in Delhi. Department director Dr Rakesh Kumar said that the department is working in alert mode. A total of 11 teams have been formed for this, including 48 doctors.

Crows found dead in Mumbai

Meanwhile, bird flu has also been confirmed in several districts of Maharashtra. Many crows were found dead in Mumbai’s Chembur area on Sunday. Authorities confirmed the spread of bird flu in Parbhani where 800 hens had been reported dead. The district administration has ordered culling of about 9000 birds and banned sale of birds within 10 km radius.

Birds were also reported dead in Latur and Amravati.
