BJP activist shot dead by terrorists in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir

A BJP leader was allegedly shot dead by terrorists in the district of Pulwama of Jammu and Kashmir today on the morning of Wednesday. The deceased leader who has been identified as Shabir Ahmad Bhat was killed by terrorists at 2:30 a.m. in an area named Rakh-e-litter.

As per the police officials, he was abducted on the evening of Tuesday and a huge search operation was rolled out so as to find him.

He comes out to be the first political activist to be killed by terrorists after the government had declared municipal and panchayat elections in the state during the last week.

On the other hand, in what could be termed as a series of tweets BJP President Amit Shah paid his condolences to Mr. Bhat by stating that the extremists cannot bar the youth of Kashmir from picking a better future for themselves.

He tweeted, “Anguished to learn about the killing of BJP karyakarta, Shabir Ahmad Bhat by terrorists in Pulwama (J&K). This act of cowardice is highly condemnable. Extremists cannot stop the youth of Kashmir from choosing a better future for themselves. This cycle of violence won’t last long”.

He further tweeted, “The sacrifice of our @BJP4JnK karyakartas will not go in vain. Entire BJP stands firmly with Shabir Ahmad Bhat’s family in this hour of grief. My deepest condolences. May god give his family the strength to bear this tragic loss”.

It was just last year that a youth wing leader of BJP was reportedly killed by the terrorists in the district of Shopian of Jammu and Kashmir. The body of Gowhar Ahmed Bhat was found with his throat slit in an orchard situated in Killoora. He was the district president of the youth wing of the BJP party and was a resident of Bongam area of Shopian.
