BJP hits at Congress for admitting Kanhaiya Kumar and Jignesh Mewani

New Delhi: National convener of the Information Technology (IT) cell of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP), Amit Malviya has attacked Congress, on the day when former president of Jawaharlal Nehru University’s student unions’ Kanhaiya Kumar and Gujarat MLA Jignesh Mewani may join Congress.

He said that Congress to admit Kanhaiya Kumar and Jignesh Mewani of “Bharat tere tukde honge” fame, on the anniversary of surgical strike, “On the anniversary of surgical strike, Congress to admit Kanhaiya Kumar and Jignesh Mewani of “Bharat tere tukde honge” fame. This can’t be a mere coincidence. Joining hands with “Breaking India” forces is now Congress’s raison d’être,” Amit Malviya tweeted.

According to sources, Kahaiya Kumar was said to be suffocated in the Communist Party of India (CPI). He on Sunday has asked for a position of state party chief and the chairman of the party’s top election committee that decides candidates for elections in CPI, “During the discussion, Kumar told them that he should be made the state party chief and the chairman of the party’s top election committee that decides candidates for elections,” said a second CPI leader, who didn’t wish to be named.

Amid his speculated shift in Congress with Jignesh Mewani today, the CPI is at unease according to media reports. CPI leaders last Monday had said that party general secretary D Raja had asked him to address a press conference to “refute” the rumours. But on Tuesday, while his party colleagues waited patiently at Ajoy Bhavan, the CPI headquarters in Delhi, “Kumar’s phone and messages went unanswered”, said a senior leader on condition of anonymity.

“So far, he has not publicly denied or reacted to the speculations about him,” noted another party leader.

Earlier this month Jignesh Mevani also ripped into the BJP after Vijay Rupani was asked to step down as Gujarat Chief Minister. Mr Mevani tweeted: “People of Gujarat would have appreciated had Mr Rupani resigned for his monumental mismanagement of Covid crisis.”

Last Saturday, Gujarat MLA and Dalit leader Mevani told the media that he and Kumar will join the Congress on September 28. “On September 28, I will be joining the Indian National Congress along with Kanhaiya Kumar,” Mevani was quoted as saying..

Kumar unsuccessfully contested the Begusarai Lok Sabha election as a CPI candidate and lost to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) stalwart and Union minister Giriraj Singh in 2019.
