“BJP Is Real Tukde-Tukde Gang, Destroying Unity”: Former Ally Sukhbir Badal Slams BJP

“BJP is destroying national unity by maliciously pushing patriotic Punjab into communal flames for political gain. It is “shamelessly” inciting violence between Hindus and Sikhs,” Mr Badal said.

Chief of SAD, the former member of the BJP-led NDA, Sukhbir Singh Badal slammed the party in the centre over the farmers protest on Tuesday afternoon, accusing it of being “the real tukde-tukde gang” and destroying national unity by maliciously “pushing patriotic Punjab into communal flames” for political gain.

Mr Badal also said the BJP was “shamelessly” inciting violence between Hindus and Sikhs.

“The BJP is the real tukde tukde gang in the country. It has smashed national unity to pieces… shamelessly inciting Hindus against Muslims and now desperate(ly) setting peace-loving Punjabi Hindus against their Sikh brethren, especially farmers,” Mr Badal said in Amritsar.

“They’re pushing patriotic Punjab into communal flames,” the SAD leader warned.

The attack by Mr Badal on its former ally speaks of soar relations between two parties. During their alliance, the Akalis used to highlight their relationship with the BJP as one that ensured peace in Punjab after the bloodshed of the 1980s and blamed the Congress for disharmony between Hindus and Sikhs.

Earlier, union Minister Nitin Gadkari said the photograph of “a person who supports the Naxalite movement” was seen during the farmers’ agitation against the three new farm laws.

“I’m not speaking of all farmers and farmer organisations, but I want to ask you something. In our Gadchiroli district, near Nagpur, in Vidarbha, a person who supports the Naxalite movement was investigated. The court also did not grant him bail. How did his photo appear in this movement? What is his link to farming and farmers?” the union transport minister told NDTV when asked about his stand that an attempt is being to mislead the farmers over the laws.

The senior BJP leader said there are “some elements that are using this farmers’ movement to defame them and take the agenda to another angle”.
