Former Maharashtra CM and BJP’s in charge of Bihar Polls campaign, Devendra Fadnavis, has tested positive for the novel coronavirus. The leader, in a tweet this afternoon, wrote: “God wants me to stop for a while and take a break!”

Mr Fadnavis also urged all those who have recently come in contact with him to get tested for coronavirus.

“I have been working every single day since the lockdown but now it seems that God wants me to stop for a while and take a break! I have tested #COVID19 positive and in isolation. Taking all medication & treatment as per the advice of the doctors,” Mr Fadnavis tweeted.

He further said, “Those who have come in contact with me are advised to get covid19 tests done. Take care, everyone!”

Devendra Fadnavis was appointed as the BJP in-charge for Bihar elections last month. Bihar elections are to be held in three phases from 28 October and results will be announced on 10 November.

Earlier on Thursday, Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Sushil Kumar Modi tested positive for the novel coronavirus. He has been admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in Patna, according to reports.

This comes at a time when the politics in the state is heating up in a lead up to assembly polls and campaigning for the same.
