Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty’s husband and famous businessman Raj Kundra was arrested by the Mumbai Crime Branch late Monday night. Kundra is accused of making pornographic films and streaming them on some apps. Mumbai Police Commissioner Hemant Nagrale says that Kundra is the main conspirator in the case and Mumbai Police has solid evidence against him.
Earlier, Raj Kundra was summoned by the Crime Branch for questioning. It was informed that the property cell of the crime branch is interrogating him. However, after the arrest, the police revealed the porn case. Now 11 people including Kundra have been arrested in this case.
Raj Kundra invested Rs 10 crore in this company
According to the Mumbai Crime Branch, a case was registered against Raj in February this year. Raj Kundra had invested Rs 8 to 10 crore in the porn film industry. Raj Kundra and his brother living in the UK formed a company there called Kenrin. Videos of the films were shot in India and sent to Kenrin via We Transfer (this is a file transfer service). This company was created by Raj Kundra and registered abroad so that they can escape India’s cyber law.
How Did Mumbai Police Get The Lead?
Mumbai police had arrested six people, including actress Gehna Vashisht, in February. Three more people were later arrested. Two FIRs were then registered in the case. It is being reported that the police had taken this action on the charge of allegedly forcing the actors to suit nude scenes for a pornographic film.
Then it also came to light that the films shot were released on the paid mobile application. Following this, the police had recently arrested another person involved in the case, Umesh Kamat. After Kamat’s arrest, the police got a big lead and Raj Kundra’s involvement in this racket of porn films came to light.

Raj Kundra is involved in many businesses including real estate, mining, entertainment, sports, stock market, gaming and hospitality. He has also invested in Bollywood movies and sports events. Raj Kundra and Akshay Kumar had launched a channel called Best Deal TV. This is a home shopping channel.
In 2009, he invested in IPL team Rajasthan Royals with Shilpa. In 2013, his name cropped up in the spot fixing case. He admitted in the interrogation of Delhi Police that he has lost a large amount of money by betting with his team. The Supreme Court had banned him for life during cricket matches.
