This comes after several protests of migrants had erupted across the country demanding movement of buses carrying them to let them go back home amid the lockdown.
New Delhi| The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has issued fresh guidelines on Wednesday allowing movement of migrant workers, tourists, students, etc stranded at various locations across the country amid the lockdown imposed to curb Covid-19 spread.
In its new circular, the ministry has asked the state governments to appoint nodal officers to facilitate the movement of migrants and students across states. The order also mentions that all who seek to return will first be screened and allowed only if they are asymptomatic.
The nodal officers will have to register stranded persons within their UT or territory so that their movement will be allowed, the ministry said.
The latest guidelines from the ministry said that all such persons will be first screened and then kept in isolation/quarantine after their arrival. They would be kept under a watch for a periodic health checkup, the ministry said advising the use of the Aarogya Setu app for the same.
The ministry said that buses will be used for movement of such stranded people and the buses should be sanitized and the social distancing norms should be maintained.
