“You Bulldozed 22 Bills”: Derek O’Brien Back With Another ‘Papri Chaat’ Jibe At PM

“Modi Ji, challenge these new numbers as I enjoy another plate of PAPRI CHAAT!” Mr O’Brien said, in a jibe that had earlier irked the PM.

Once again repeating his ‘papri chaat’ jibe at PM Narendra Modi on Thursday, Trinamool MP Derek O’Brien said the Centre has “bulldozed” 22 bills in eight days.

Derek O’Brien, in his tweet on Thursday, said: “No Bills passed in first week of Monsoon Session. Then Modi-Shah bulldozed 22 Bills in 8 days at an average time of UNDER 10 MINUTES per Bill.”

“Modi Ji, challenge these new numbers as I enjoy another plate of PAPRI CHAAT!” Mr O’Brien said, in a jibe that had earlier irked the PM.

The Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader had kicked up a storm in the political circles two days back when he compared the speed of the passing bills in Parliament to that of making a quick ‘papri chaat’.

Prime Minister Modi, hitting out at the TMC MP on Tuesday, said the comments are an insult to India, Parliament and the Constitution.

“In the first 10 days, Modi-Shah rushed through and passed 12 Bills at an average time of UNDER SEVEN MINUTES per Bill. Passing legislation or making papri chaat!” the TMC leader had tweeted earlier.

Mr O’Brien’s remarks came amid prolonged deadlock in both houses of the parliament since the monsoon session began, with the Opposition’s relentless protest demanding a debate over the Pegasus issue and farmers’ protests, which the government has refused to conduct.

PM Modi slammed the conduct of the Opposition in which several MPs reached the Well of the House and tore up papers, hurling “derogatory” remarks at the government.
