BJP MLA of the Bangarmau district, Kuldeep Singh Sengar the accused in the rape of a 17-year-old minor in Unnao of Uttar Pradesh was taken into custody by the Central Bureau of Investigation from his residence in Lucknow today in the early hours of the day.
This move of the CBI surfaced following the lashing from the Allahabad High Court done on Yogi Adityanath government concerning the Unnao case, asking if it proposes to arrest the MLA just as soon as it does in other cases.
A team of the CBI along with cops from the UP police picked the MLA up from his residence in Indiranagar at around 4:30 a.m. today. The MLA was taken to the headquarters of the CBI in Hazratganj in Lucknow.
On the other hand, Sengar’s family said he had made plans to leave for Varanasi to visit a temple last night, but the CBI had asked him to join the probe.
However, the officials of the CBI stated that so far, he has not been arrested.
Moreover, as per the sources of the CBI, the agency has registered three separate cases that are equivalent to three FIRs of rape, assault done to the victim’s father and the counter-assault on the aides of MLA.
This move of the UP government to hand all the three cases of the alleged rape of the minor, her father’s custodial death was resorted to after the Special Investigation Team which has been constituted under Rajeev Krishna, the Additional Director General of Police from the Lucknow zone, submitted its report on the matter to the government on the evening of Wednesday.
Further, the MLA told the reporters that the girl has been instructed for framing a rape case against him after she was abducted last year and the dispute that was going on concerning the supremacy of the village and her relatives had exerted pressure on her for his arrest fearing the destroying of evidence.
Over the past few days, a number of video and audio evidences that involve the girl, her uncle and the survivor of the rape have come to the furore over the past couple of days.
