Chinese Soldier Held In Ladakh, May Have Entered Unintentionally

The soldier was held in the Chumar-Demchok area and he may have entered Indian territory inadvertently, the news agency reported quoting sources.

News agency ANI reported on Monday that a Chinese PLA soldier has been caught by security forces near the border in Ladakh. The soldier was held in the Chumar-Demchok area and he may have entered Indian territory inadvertently, the news agency reported quoting sources.

He will be returned to the Chinese Army “as per established protocol after following the due procedure”, the sources added.

The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) soldier was carrying civil and military documents when he was captured by the army, the reports have suggested.

ANI also reported that the PLA soldier was identified as Corporal Wang Ya Long. The soldier has been provided medical assistance, food and warm clothes to protect him from vagaries of extreme altitude and harsh climatic conditions, the Indian army said.
