COVID19 India Updates: Country Reports 31,923 New Cases, Centre Announces Ex-gratia Of ₹50,000

Mumbai : In last 24 hours India reported 31,923 new cases and 282 deaths. This took the count of count of COVID-19 cases to 3,35,63,421, while the active cases declined to 3,01,640, which is the lowest in 187 days, according to data.

Union Health Ministry stated that the active cases comprise for 0.90 per cent of the total infections, the lowest since March last year, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 97.77 per cent, the highest since March 2020.

A reduction of 7,586 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.

Nationwide 83.39 Crores COVID19 vaccine doses have been administered.

Center will pay an ex-gratia amount of ₹50,000 to the families of those whose deaths have been certified as Covid-19 fatalities, the Union government has informed the Supreme Court through an affidavit.

The Centre added that the scheme framed by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) lays down that ex gratia compensation is also applicable to those involved in relief operations or those associated with preparedness activities, and that the states will disburse the money from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF). The assistance will be continued for any Covid-19 deaths that may occur in the future, added the affidavit submitted on Wednesday.

He quoted that, we need to focus on addressing the pandemic’s economic effects. To that end, international travel should be made easier, through mutual recognition of vaccine certificates.

The UK Approves Covishield as vaccine but has issue with the certification process of India. On Wednesday UK updated travel rules applicable from October 4 and clarified that Covishield would qualify as an approved vaccine, but quarantine requirements could still apply to those vaccinated in India due to concerns over the vaccine certification process in the country.

However, with India having warned the UK of ‘reciprocal measures’, the travel industry is expecting an early resolution of the issue.
