Dawood Ibrahim’s aide may face probe due to ties with politicians

The police is set to unearth a major nexus between Dawood Ibrahim and politicians from both Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh. The police had recently arrested Tariq Parveen, a close aide of Dawood in connection with the murder of two cable operators. Tariq Parveen, who was arrested in a 20-year-old murder case last week, is said to be close to some politicians.

The police say that his nexus with politicians is under probe. Photographs of him posing with several politicians including an MLA from Mumbai have surfaced which has led the police to probe this angle. “Parveen is close to politicians not just from the state but also from Uttar Pradesh. He has posted several pictures of himself with an MLA from Mumbai. There are also pictures of him with other politicians at social events,” said a source.

Taqiq handled Dawood’s real-estate business in Mumbai for several years which resulted in him being in constant touch with Dawood.

On Tuesday, the holiday court remanded him in judicial custody. The police say that he was wanted in the 1998 Mumbra murder case.

In the 1998 killings of two cable operators-Mohammad Bangdiwala and Parvez Ansari, all the accused except Parveen were arrested and tried in the case. The six accused-Shaukat Khilji, Gaffar Kalia, Mehmood Arab, Mohammad Hajihasan, Makbul Hamid and Firoz were acquitted by the sessions court.
